‘Digital Financial Literacy for All’ Seminar by AFLC

“Digital financial literacy and financial inclusion is the major focus today to make India gradually a ‘less cash’ society by 2020. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is pioneering with back-end technologies to fulfil the dream and promoting the mobile based transaction practices across the country” said Shri Abhaya Prasad Hota, Managing Director and CEO, NPCI in a Seminar here.

The state level program was organized at Jayadev Bhawan on Monday by Abhyutthana Financial Learning Centre (AFLC), a forum initiated by a group of senior banking professionals who are instrumental in promoting larger public awareness on financial literacy and financial inclusion since 2014. OdishaLIVE, the first web channel network of Odisha was the Digital Media Partner for the Seminar.

Addressing the gathering Shri Hota mentioned that after demonetization in last year, India is now heading towards a more inclusive society to adopt the digital transactions in everyday life. Several measures including the JAM trinity – Jan Dhan Accounts with Rupay Cards, Adhar Based Payment System and Mobile Banking are the new mantra by the Reserve Bank of India and the Central Govt. too. NPCI is working closely towards another BTT trinity – Bharat Bill Payment System, Toll Gate Payment at national Highways and Transactions in cities & towns, which will change the entire scenario of digital financial inclusion in the country soon.

“It’s a great moment for Odisha to host Shri Hota and to know more about how NPCI is engaged and planning to make India a ‘less cash’ society through financial literacy. In Odisha, we are consistently working with students, teachers, youth, media and others relevant to make our people understand and practice the benefit of digital transactions though using mobile based technologies and debit/ credit cards for even every smaller transactions” said Shri Dasarathi Mishra, Founder and Managing Partner, AFLC.

Chief Guest Shri Aurobindo Behera, IAS (Retd.) appealed to practice more and more digital transactions using mobile banking, e-banking etc. Guest of Honour Shri Nilambar Rath, Founder Editor and CEO, OdishaLIVE opined that greater awareness generation would be possible by promoting the benefits of using digital transaction modes through various social media platforms along with other media. This will help to attract large number of youth and people from different walks of life in both urban and rural geography who are active in web and social media, he added.

Among others, Shri D. K. Jena, Dept. of Finance, Govt. of Odisha, Prof. D. V. Ramana, XIMB, Shri K. R. Das, RBI, Bhubaneswar and Shri Siladitya Chaoudhury, former GM, RBI have graced the occasion.
