ABHYUTTHANA FOUNDATION CHARITABLE TRUST organized a Webinar on Union Budget- 2021-22 on 13 February 2021

At the outset, D Mishra, Convener of the Webinar welcomed the participants and introduced the speakers to the audience. He also mentioned that the Trust is organizing discussion on an issue national importance for the first time. He suggested that the effort would continue.

Shri Braja Mohan Misra, Former Principal Adviser, Department of Economic & Policy Research (DEPR), Reserve Bank of India spoke on “Assessment and Prospects for Indian Economy”. Shri Misra dealt comprehensibly the fiscal position, revenue collection, important reform processes announced such as Infrastructure Financing through DFIs, Asset Monetisation, Disinvestment, Bad Banks, public issue by LIC, reforms in bond market, introduction of Investors Charter.

Shri Adhar Lal Chand , IRS (Retd) Former Chief Commissioner of Income Tax made a presentation on Direct Tax Amendments in the Budget. Shri Chand very lucidly explained the Direct Tax amendments announced in the budget, intricate points in saving , investment, Scrutiny of tax returns , relaxation in filing returns for senior citizens ( above 75), faceless assessments.

There was lively Q & A session, in which many points were clarified by the learned speakers.

In all, 46 persons participated which included academicians, bankers, senior bureaucrats , senior citizens and students. The prominent participants were : Dr Umesh Chandra Sarangi, IAS (Retd) , former Chairman, NABARD , Shri Ashok Chatterjee, IRS (Retd) former Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Shri K R Das , former Regional Director, RBI, Hyderabad, Shri Shreedhar Behera, former Banking Ombudsman, RBI, Shri B B Mohanty, former CGM, NABARD ,Shri T Maharana, former CGM, NABARD, and Prof (Dr) Samarendra Mahapatra, Professor , Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology.(OUAT)
